Only those wearing grease paint and colorful outfits will be invited when Westminster’s Alamo Drafthouse Cinema hosts a special showing for Stephen King’s “It Chapter 2” on Sept. 7.

The Westminster Downtown theater will be one of 17 of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas across the country to host clown-only showings of the horror flick. The Littleton Alamo is hosting a clown showing Setpt. 8.

According to a company release, six Alamo theaters hosted clown-only showings of the first chapter of the movie when it debuted in 2017 and the showings were popular.

That first chapter tells the story of group of kids facing down a supernatural threat. The sequel, which continues the story after the kids grow up and return to the hometown, is scheduled to debut Sept. 5.

“What does a Clowns Only screening mean?” the cinema chain wrote in the release. “Well, it means... please come dressed as a clown. Wig, makeup, oversized pants and suspenders, blood-curdling makeup. Then you’ll watch the chilling conclusion to the biggest horror duology ever made with a theater full of fellow... clowns.”

Tickets are available online, at https://drafthouse.com/denver/

The new theater, featuring reclining seats, gourmet meals, adult beverages and a strict no talking policy, opened in Westminster on June 30.

The cinema features nine theaters of varying sizes — ranging from 69 seat theaters to the special 245 seat Big Show at the front of the building.

Every seat in the cinema features recliners facing a massive 4K Digital-powered screen. The big show includes a 3D capable projector and special Dolby Atmos audio system with speakers in the ceiling as well as all of the walls.
