An Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office deputy has tested positive for COVID-19, the office announced in a March 27 news release.

“The deputy is being supported and resources are available to the deputy and their family,” the office said in the release. “The sheriff's office is not experiencing significant staffing issues at this time.”

The Arapahoe County Jail has no positive or presumed positive COVID-19 cases among the inmate population, according to the release.

The sheriff's office identified those who were in close proximity to the deputy who tested positive.

“Those individuals have been notified, and we are taking necessary precautions to monitor them,” the release said.

No other information about the deputy was released at the time.

The office has asked citizens not to come to its headquarters to report crimes, pay traffic fines or request public records and instead use its online services. Those links can be found on the sheriff's homepage at www.arapahoesheriff.org.

The sheriff's office suspended the concealed handgun permit process and fingerprinting conducted at its headquarters at 13101 E. Broncos Parkway through March 27. That applies to new, renewed or retired permits, the sheriff's website says.

The Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners announced that all county facilities will remain closed to the public through at least April 17, according to a news release.

The county website reminds residents to call 9-1-1 if they have difficulty breathing, an allergic reaction, symptoms of heart attack or stroke, or difficulty walking, speaking, or seeing. Residents should also call 9-1-1 if they are confused, disoriented or dizzy, or if they have sudden, severe pain.
