Enjoy the beauty of waterlilies, lotuses and other aquatic plants that grow at Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St. in Denver. The Colorado Water Garden Society’s annual “Water Blossom Celebration” will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 3. There will be activities near the Hive Restaurant on the south side of Monet’s Pool and tours of the collection will be offered. Highlights include the magnificent Victoria waterlilies and a display of carnivorous plants. Opportunities to take home a pitcher plant exist while supplies last. The event is free, but visitors must be members or pay Denver Botanic Gardens admission fee. Colowatergardensociety.org.

Shofu-en celebration

The Japanese Garden at Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St. in Denver, celebrates a 40th anniversary of its special Japanese Garden, Shofu-en, designed by Koichi Kawana. Shofu-en means “garden of pine and wind.” In traditional Japanese garden form, it uses native Ponderosa pine trees, since Japanese pines would not survive in Colorado. Many trees are more than 100 years old. A traditional tea house and bridge were built in Japan. The tea house garden and Bonsai Pavilion were added in 2012.

‘Full Monty’

There’s one more weekend to see “The Full Monty” at the PACE Center in Parker. August Stoten plays Jerry, the out-of-work guy who decides to get organized with his buddies. Bemis exhibit.

Littleton Fine Arts Guild members have art work exhibited at Bemis Library, 6014 S. Datura St., in “State of the Arts.” It runs Aug. 2 to 31 on the lower level.

Depot in summer

Littleton’s Depot Art Gallery has traditionally had a show of unframed art at small prices on Western Welcome Week’s first Saturday. It will be moved across the street to Bega Park this year — at the east end of Main Street — which will allow for more display space for each artist. The show is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 10.

Hudson Gardens

“Bee Friendly to Pollinators” is scheduled on Aug. 7 at Hudson Gardens, 6115 S. Santa Fe Drive. Lisa Mason, CSU Extension horticulture agent for Arapahoe County, will speak at 6 p.m. Inn at Hudson Gardens. $12. 303-797-8565.

Denver Art Museum

Free days remaining this year at the Denver Art Museum are Aug. 3, Sept. 7, Oct. 5, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7. Also, see The Light Show, including First Light Family Space, on Level 3 of the Hamilton Building. In other announcements, the Creative-in-Residence for July through September is artist Juntae TeeJay Hwang, who works with performance, film and sculptural installations, painting and ceramics. Arvada Center

“Blurring the Line: Form, Function, Design” is an exhibit at the Arvada Center Galleries that includes furniture, ceramics, wearable items and jewelry that blur the line. Arvadacenter.org; the center is located at 6901 N. Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada.

How to draw

Rox Arts Gallery at Aspen Grove offers drawing classes for children, ages 6-8: Drawing Elephants on Aug. 5; Dogs on Aug. 12; Horses on Aug. 19.
