On May 18, the 2019 graduates of D'Evelyn Junior/Senior High School joined together at Denver's Ellie Caulkins Opera House to celebrate a job well done.

The graduation ceremony's lineup included faculty speaker Cindy Cannon, who shared a letter her father wrote her for her high school graduation. Cannon then left her spot at the podium so she could address the graduates face-to-face.

“Being able to sit and reflect on how much work it took to get to this point makes it absolutely remarkable,” she said.

Student and faculty speakers emphasized the academic rigor endured by the graduates, highlighting the fact that 95 percent of the students completed an Advanced Placement course, in which students earn college credit.

Sisters Hannah and Kayla Erickson delivered the senior address together, thanking dozens of their classmates by name for the memories they made.

“We have all faced a lot of sunrises, schooldays and sunsets,” Hannah Erickson said, “but we haven't done it alone.”
