The Cat Care Society of Lakewood has a charming way to raise funds for the organization: “Tails of the Painted Cats Gala.” Artists paint cat sculptures of varying sizes and at a September Gala, they are auctioned to raise money for this cage-free shelter for homeless, abandoned and abused cats in the Denver metro area. Littleton Fine Arts Guild member Mary Clark (who has four felines at home) has arranged for the collection to visit at the Depot Art Gallery, 2069 W. Powers Ave., Littleton from June 3 to June 23. Clark has painted a smiling blue cat with images of 38 cat breeds and a few words about each. There will be a reception on June 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. Gallery hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission free. The society will host a dinner and auction at Pinehurst Country Club in southwest Denver on Sept. 14 from 5 to 9 p.m. See catcaresociety.org. (New artists are welcome for future years.) The Depot has extended dates for its anniversary show to fill the gallery walls while the fanciful cats are in residence.

Englewood Camera Club

Photographer Joe Bonita will speak and judge member’s images at 7 p.m. June 11 at the Englewood Camera Club meeting at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 6400 S. University Blvd., Centennial (south entrance). His topic will be “Creating High Impact Images.” He has photographed on all seven continents and is a frequent speaker and judge. Zikr Dance

The Zikr Dance Ensemble will perform a new work by artistic director David Taylor called “Oracle,” inspired by the Oracle of Delphi in Greece. Spoke N Motion Dance

Spoke N Motion Dance presents its sixth annual production, “Decades of Dance,” at 7:30 p.m. June 8 and 2 p.m. June 9 at Englewood High School, 3800 S. Logan St., Englewood. Tickets: $20, SpokeNMotionDance.org. Performances are ASL interpreted and audio-described. The company unites dancers with and without disabilities in what is known as integrated dance.

Beer history

“Beer Here! Brewing the New West” is open at History Colorado Center, 1200 N. Broadway, Denver, through August 2020. Call for artists: Kaleidoscope

The Kaleidoscope Annual Juried Exhibition will be held at the Colorado Gallery of the Arts at Arapahoe Community College from July 8 to Aug. 2. The juror will be Mary Williams. A closing reception will be held Aug. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. Open noon to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Information: 303-797-5212.

Biennial of the Americas

The 2019 Biennial of the Americas launches with free Levitt Pavilion Concerts on June 2, 5 to 9 p.m. (Jenny and the Mexicats with Bang Data): July 21, 5-9 p.m. (Aterciopelados with Pink Hawks); Aug. 29, 6 to 10 p.m. (Wild Rivers with Copper Children, 1380 W. Florida Ave., Denver. The theme is “Empathy in Action” and will have diverse programming, culminating on Sept. 28 with a free family event at Civic Center Park. (More info to come.)
