Each year, South Suburban Parks and Recreation District’s Public Art Committee selects new outdoor works by Colorado sculptors and displays the pieces near the entrance to Goodson Recreation Center, 6315 S. University Blvd. in Centennial. There will be a ceremony from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, to celebrate the 2021-22 selections, which will be exhibited as the current Art on Loan selections for a year. They are: “Dependence” by Tina Suszynski; “Jack-Knife” by Stephen Shachtman and “Peche” by Charlotte Zink.

History Colorado

Dawn DiPrince was named the new executive director of History Colorado and will assume the role on Sept. 1, 2021, succeeding the retiring Steve Turner. She was chosen from more than 100 applicants for the position and will oversee the museum at 1200 Broadway in Denver and other local museums in towns across the state. She has worked at El Pueblo History Museum and with all the other History Colorado Community Museums, moving to Denver in 2019 to become the organization’s chief operating officer.

Last chance

Central City Opera

Hudson Gardens, 6115 S. Santa Fe Drive in Littleton, is the summer home for Central City Opera’s productions: “Carousel,” by Oscar Hammerstein II, a Tony award-winning musical and “Rigoletto” an opera by the Italian Giuseppe Verde, written in 1832. Alice

Plan ahead: “Alice in Wonderland” will be presented live at Su Teatro, 721 Santa Fe Drive, Denver at 7:30 to 9 p.m. from Aug. 14 to Sept. 5 by Phamaly Theatre Company. Tickets: $30. Phamaly’s new director Ben Ranaan will join previous director Regan Linton in guiding the company of actors with disabilities through June 11, when Linton will move on.
