This year’s celebration features live music from Southern Fryed, the Kory Brunson Band and Midnight Party Machine as well as family-friendly activities, food and drinks.

The event culminates in the musical fireworks display, which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. Parking for the event is free of charge. Pets and personal fireworks are not permitted.

Call the Adams County Regional Park at 303-637-8000 or visit the county website, www.adcogov.org, for more information. County offices will be closed on July 4.

Northglenn celebrates all day

Northglenn’s favorite festivities are back again this year, with a 50th-anniversary twist.

The city’s E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park will host the annual pancake breakfast, bake sale, car show, Pedals and Paws Patriotic Parade, Duck Derby and plenty of music and food.

To help celebrate the city’s 50th Anniversary, Artist Chad Bolsinger to unveil the mural he’s been working on all spring in the underpass underneath Interstate 25 from 2 to 6 p.m.

The Boy Scouts annual pancake breakfast begins at 7 a.m., followed by the annual Senior Organization’s Bake Sale at 9 a.m.

The annual car show begins at 10 a.m., but participants must pre-register via the online registration form at www.bnorthgloenn.org/july4th. Details about arrival times and location will be sent with registration; a new location will be used this year. Entry is $20 in advance and $35 on July 4.

The rain date for the fireworks display is July 5. For more information, visit www.northglenn.org/july4th online at the city’s website.

Skydivers the prelude to Thornton fireworks

Thornton’s Fourth of July Celebration culminates in parachutists dropping in to kick off the city’s fireworks show. But the festivities begin much earlier.

Carpenter Park itself is open but some items are restricted, including alcohol and glass containers, charcoal grills, open fires, drones and pets. People are welcome to set up volleyball nets and tents early but should remove them well before dark.

The boathouse, carousel, spray ground, playground and the walking path will all be closed July 3 and during the event, reopening on July 5.

All festivities are centered in Carpenter Park Fields, 108 Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, beginning at 4 p.m. That’s when the community beer garden opens and food vendors begin serving.

The celebration takes a patriotic turn at 5:15 p.m. when the Thornton Community Band and the Independence Day Festival Chorus perform. That leads into a presentation of the colors and the national anthem at 7:20 p.m. followed by a performance by the Kory Brunson Band.

The parachutist drop is scheduled for 9:30 p.m., followed immediately by city’s Red White and BOOM fireworks show.

Drivers are encouraged to park in the lots south of fields and west of 108th Avenue, in the Recreation Center lot and in the lots near 112th Avenue and Madison Street.

Westminster offers shuttles to City Park

Westminster’s City Park begins at 4 p.m. with the opening of the kid’s Activity Zone, food vendors and a beer garden.

That will be followed at 7 p.m. by a free concert by Rockslide. The celebration culminates in the 9:15 p.m. fireworks display.

There is limited parking at the park complex, so the city recommends using shuttles to get to the event. Shuttles will run every 15 to 20 minutes from several places: Westminster Commons on 76th Avenue and Hooker Street; the MAC, 3295 W. 72nd Ave.; Westminster City Hall at 4800 W. 92nd Ave.; Water World at 90th Avenue and Pecos Street; Shaw Heights Elementary, 8780 Circle Drive.; Rocky Mountain Elementary, 99th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard; Front Range Community College west parking lot on 112th Avenue; and the West View Recreation Center, 10747 W, 108th Ave.

The city is also recommending users have Uber or Lyft pick them up from the shuttle sites, not from City Park.

Folding camp chairs can be brought on the shuttles, but large chairs and coolers won’t be allowed.

Staying home

Remember that exploding fireworks and firecrackers, as well as bottle rockets and anything else that flies or breaks apart, are banned by state law.

All varieties of fireworks, including sparklers, fountains and ground spinners and smoke bombs, are banned in Northglenn and Thornton as well.

Westminster allows those tamer varieties, but only during the Independence Day celebrations. They are allowed from noon July 3 to noon July 5 — unless a state ban, due to especially dry conditions, is in place.

Similarly, sparklers, fountains and their ilk are allowed to be used in the unincorporated parts of Adams county, per state restrictions.
