Lone Tree's newest corporate citizen is scheduled to finish the first of its two-building office campus near Interstate 25 next summer.

Kiewit Corp., a multibillion-dollar construction and engineering firm, is hammering away at the soon-to-be regional headquarters at the front step of the Sky Ridge Light Rail Station for its Colorado-based employees. When finished, Kiewit officials say the campus will be able to employ up to 1,800 people.

The first building broke ground in March and is scheduled to finish next summer. The second building broke ground in April. Kiewit officials expect both buildings to be finished by spring 2022.

The company expects the new Lone Tree campus to be operational by next summer. The first 1,000 employees will move into the building in phases over four weeks, officials said.

“Kiewit is working in phases to ensure the campus is designed to meet current and future needs, so the timeline has some flexibility built in, but the project is on track for completion in 2022,” a Kiewit spokesperson said via email.

The Kiewit ampus will have the third-largest footprint in the city.

The first building occupies 12.6 acres of land and will have 252,000 square feet of office space across five stories. The second building will consist of about 142,000 square feet of office space. The campus will also include a neighboring parking garage.

By comparison, the Park Meadows mall property is roughly 1.5 million square feet. Charles Schwab's campus at RidgeGate is about 650,000 square feet.

Kiewit's own building group serves as the project's general contractor. About 250 staff are working on the site daily.

Kiewit is one of North America's largest construction and engineering firms with subsidiaries in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Kiewit offers construction and engineering services for buildings, transportation, oil, gas and chemical, power, water/wastewater, industrial and mining.

“When completely built out, the regional headquarters in Lone Tree will serve as a hub for most of Kiewit's Colorado employees, with space to accommodate future growth as the demand for Kiewit's services and expertise increases across the region,” the spokesperson said.
