Letter to the editor: Thankful for Wind Crest in Highlands Ranch

Day after day as I hear and read about the difficult situations in some nursing homes throughout the country, I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to be living at Wind Crest. While many media have been painting the image of all retirement communities being “nursing homes,” I’ve learned firsthand that the lifestyle I enjoy in a continuing care retirement community is so much more … including in these challenging times.

Each day I’m appreciative not only for the safety and security that routinely are in place on campus but also for the thoughtful measures put in place immediately to keep us virus-free in continuing care. The spirit of selfless service that staff have offered in a tireless and reliable manner makes them our heroes. In addition to meals and mail being delivered daily to our doors, we had a complimentary concierge program that provided toiletries and other conveniences. Exercise classes on closed TV, visual happy hours with Wind Crest provided wine and cheese, Mother’s Day flowers and candy and many other surprises have kept residents engaged during this time.

I know more than ever how the dedicated professionals at Wind Crest are going above and beyond to protect the health and well-being of those they serve … for that, I am even more thankful that my husband and I chose Wind Crest to be our home
