A road rage-fueled car chase between a 28-year-old woman and a man ended at the Englewood Police Department headquarters, damaging a security wall and a lamp post Wednesday evening near the parking lot, according to police.

The incident began near West Dartmouth Avenue and South Elati Street, said Investigator Scot Allen, a spokesman for Englewood police.

The woman, Erika A. Boudreaux, was following the man, who drove to the police headquarters about a mile to the south, according to Allen. As he pulled up to the station, she rammed his car, and when he got out, she attempted to run him over but hit the lamp post, according to Allen. The crash occurred around 7 p.m., according to Allen. The police headquarters sits at 3615 S. Elati St, just south of West Hampden Avenue.

The female fled on foot and was arrested shortly after, according to a police news release.

Both vehicles were damaged, and the man was not injured, Allen said. It appeared that the woman wasn’t hurt either, Allen added.

Boudreaux was charged with attempted first-degree assault, criminal mischief, menacing, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and driving while her license was suspended or revoked, according to the release.

The man is not being charged of any crime, Allen said.

Allen did not know if the two are known to each other or what led to the road rage.

Police personnel observed the situation on camera footage, and it appeared that the man couldn’t access a phone but was trying to get to the police station during the incident, Allen said.

Englewood police’s headquarters is relatively new and opened in spring 2019 at the same location as the old one.
