Driver's car flipped; driver and passenger taken to hospital

Posted

A driver's car crashed into a parked vehicle in Englewood and flipped over, sending the driver and his passenger to the hospital, according to the Sheridan Police Department.

A Sheridan police officer followed the driver on U.S. Highway 285 after an alleged traffic violation on June 18, said Bruce Williamson, interim Sheridan police chief.

The driver pulled over in Englewood on South Galapago Street, but then he sped back up, traveling south near West Kenyon Avenue, where his car hit the parked vehicle, Williamson said. There was no pursuit of the suspect, he added.

But the driver fled on foot after the crash, and apprehended the driver after he walked to a nearby building, Williamson said. The passenger is not suspected of a crime, to Williamson's knowledge.

His female passenger was injured in the crash and was taken to Swedish Medical Center, along with the driver, Williamson said.

No one was in the parked car when the collision occurred, and no one else was injured, according to Williamson.

Englewood officers responded to the accident, and Sheridan police are overseeing the driver and passenger, Englewood police Sgt. Tracy Jones said.

Yellow police tape cordoned off the scene as of about 2 p.m. near Kenyon Avenue and Galapago Street, just a few blocks south of West Hampden Avenue in a residential area. Galapago remained closed near Kenyon as of about 3:40 p.m.
