A vigil honoring Arvada Police Officer Gordon Beesley, who was killed in the June 21 Olde Town shooting, was held on June 22 at 7 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada. The church’s worship center filled past its 700-person capacity, with onlookers spilling out into the atrium.

The vigil featured speeches from Arvada Mayor Marc Williams, City Manager Mark Deven and two of Beesley’s co-workers at Oberon Middle School. After the speeches,  religious leaders from the community shared thoughts, songs and prayers.

The Shrine of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Olde Town will hold another prayer vigil on Thursday, June 24, at 7 p.m.

An Emergency Assistance Center at the Shrine of St. Anne’s  will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the gym at St. Anne’s Church starting June 23, according to APD Public Information Officer Dave Snelling. The Center will provide counseling for any community members, particularly those who were impacted in the Olde Town area.
