“This is Colorado,” an annual juried exhibit for members of the long-running Littleton Fine Arts Guild, appears in a new venue this season: Town Hall Arts Center’s Stanton Gallery, where it marks the start of an ongoing collaboration between the two local organizations.

Littleton Fine Arts Guild will curate future exhibits for Stanton Gallery, as well as at their Depot Art Gallery and exhibit spots at Smokin’ Fins in Downtown Littleton, Vita, Arapahoe County Justice Center and Nixon’s Coffee in Englewood.

The present exhibit runs through Oct. 31 and includes oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings, as well as several stained glass pieces by Sally Vander Kamp.

Since the opening Town Hall program is “off-campus” at Hudson Gardens, art lovers will want to check in to the 2450 W. Main Street gallery from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (free admission).

It’s tempting to think about where the photographer was standing to capture many of the images. Perhaps some readers have been at that location this summer? Or, will wish they had been — hence a weekend plan forms!

This annual juried exhibit ties in with Town Hall’s season-opening musical: “Almost Heaven,” a tribute to the late John Denver, which has played to sold-out audiences at Hudson Gardens. One can almost hear “Rocky Mountain High” ringing out while enjoying the art, which varies in subject from rushing mountain streams to lush valleys, to a charming pair of owls: “You Had Us At Hello,” by photographer Carl Paulson.

Visual artists are fortunate to live in a state that invites interpretation of its images from almost any place one stands to look around.

Near the entrance is David George’s “Ten Mile Creek,” which almost overflows its frame. Seasonal images include snow-scenes, gardens and Kathy Meyer’s intriguing “Bubbles at the Gardens,” a “photography-infused aluminum print.” Readers may remember the recent season when blown glass bubbles floated in the Denver Botanic Gardens pond ... Nationally recognized painter Dean Buhler was juror for this exhibit — his “Warrior” demands a closer look when one spots it ... It’s a can’t-miss image that jumps out at the visitor.

Main Street strollers, as well as focused art lovers, are invited to visit this current Littleton Fine Arts Guild exhibit. They’ve been just off Main Street for many years — it seems good to welcome them to the center of our lovely Downtown!
