Two popular Parker restaurants announced temporary closures after employees showed COVID-like symptoms.
West Main Tap House and Grill said July 3 that “several” employees reported symptoms of the disease caused by the new coronavirus. The restaurant closed for the July 4 weekend and reopened July 9. One employee had tested positive for COVID-19, according to a follow-up post July 5.
The Egg and U in Parker announced July 6 that management had sent one employee home who had COVID-19 symptoms. That employee tested positive for COVID-19.
Both restaurants planned to open again July 9.
The July 5 Facebook post from West Main stated the employee who had tested positive for the disease had “zero direct contact with any customers or employees when they felt symptomatic at the beginning of” the week of June 27.
The post states the employee always wore a face mask while inside the establishment and followed sanitary procedures. Management asked another employee who felt he or she may have been exposed to the infected worker to self-quarantine for 14 days.
Though no other employees showed symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19, the West Main post reads, the owners decided to close the restaurant for a few more days out of an abundance of caution. The post added that over the next two days, there would be a thorough cleaning of the entire restaurant and a safe, updated strategy for reopening would be implemented.
West Main owners said they have contacted the Tri-County Health Department.
“We can only hope that breaking this news reflects the values we carry throughout all aspects of our restaurant. We care about doing the right thing. Always. Doing what's right isn't always easy, but for us, it's the only way we ever will do things,” the restaurant's post states.
The Egg and U announced in a July 6 news release that it would be closed July 7 and 8 out of an abundance of caution. One employee came to work with symptoms but was immediately sent home and told to get tested, according to the release. The employee wore a face mask while inside the building and followed sanitary procedures, the release said.
No other employees at The Egg and U exhibited symptoms, according to the release. Management has asked any employees who feel they may have been exposed to get tested. Owners have notified the Tri-County Health Department as well.
“We hope that sharing this news with transparency reflects the high standards and values that we strive through all aspects of our restaurant," the release said. "We care about doing the right thing, even though that is not always easy, but for us, it's the only way we will ever do things.”
