Assemblage artists exhibit in Lakewood venue

Two Littleton artists have work exhibited in separate gallery spaces at 6851 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood (Pasternack’s). Sue Blosten’s small assemblage piece, “Heavy Heart,” created from concrete wood and metal, is included in a “Dark Heart Show” at Kanon Collective. The building is also the new home of the CORE New Art Space group of artists, which moved from a Santa Fe Drive location last year. Michelle Lamb has assemblage work in both the Kanon and CORE exhibits. Open: 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. See coreartspace.com, kanonart.com, 303-297-8428.

Douglas County Library

 Author Steve Berry will appear virtually to talk about the latest thriller in his Cotton Malone series, “The Kaiser’s Web,” at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Register at DCL.org/authors-events and a link will be provided. (For adults.)

 For the younger DCL patrons, “A Storybook Holiday: The Tale of Peter Rabbit” will be presented: March 28, 9-11 a.m. at Castle Pines Library; March 29. 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Parker Library. Lone Tree Arts Center

Arts in the Afternoon, from Lone Tree Arts Center, will livestream a concert of classical art songs and opera favorites at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 24, with soprano Christie Conover and bass-baritone Eric J. Miners Alley

“Sheryl McCallum and David Nehls: A Tribute to Ruth Brown” will be presented by the Quarantine Cabaret at Miners Alley Playhouse, 1224 Washington Ave., Golden, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27. There will be both limited in-person seating ($25) and streaming single tickets (start at $5) available for this tribute to a famous R&B singer from the 1940s, 1950s. Curious Theatre

“Chaos Theory” is a comedy show in digital adaption, brought from New York City by Curious, in cooperation with Jessica Creane and IKantKoan Games, LLC. Wonderbound Dance Company

“The Troublemakers” is the latest creation by Wonderbound’s Artistic Director Garrett Ammon — “Inspired by film noir genre, the Cinderella story and features schemes of an unexpected femme fatale.” Wonderbound Studio is at 3824 S. Call for Artists:

Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist, or team of artists for art in two sites in the Sun Valley neighborhood. One site is inside Rude Park at West 13th Avenue and Decatur Street at the entrance to the Lakewood Gulch Trail. The other is at the reconstructed length of West 10th Avenue between Decatur Street and Bryant Street. This will become a festival street. Sun Valley is seen as a gathering place. Artists are asked to be mindful and respectful of the area’s functionality, access and diverse users in the community. Funding: $120,000. Information: DenverPublicArt.org/For-Artists.

SUE

SUE: the T. rex Experience has arrived at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, 2001 Colorado Blvd., Denver — a traveling exhibition from Chicago’s Field Musem includes: a cast of SUE’S 40-foot skeleton; a full-sized, fleshed-out replica of a T. rex, preying on a duck-billed herbivore, Edmontosaurus; floor to ceiling animations of SUE tromping through their world, meeting other animals, and occasionally growling; touchable bronze casts of SUE’S bones; and a multimedia light show.
