Jane Bais DiSessa resigned Oct. 11. Originally, Marv Falconburg was tabbed for the job. He was acting city manager after former City Manager Philip Rodriguez resigned and before Bais DiSessa took the job. Council hired her last year.
A city statement said Martinez will be responsible for daily city operations, prepare recommendations for council consideration and implement the policy direction approved by city council.
Martinez also is the city's economic development director.
