Craft fair guaranteed to draw attendees

The 2019 Friends of the Littleton Library/Museum Craft Fair takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 5, rain or shine, featuring more than 250 crafters’ booths with handmade wares. Attendance is high and parking is difficult, but the old routine of circling the block until someone leaves has worked for me in past years — and one can find all sorts of treasures. Ketring Park is the place to be on Oct. 5 for the fair — 6000 S. Gallup St., Littleton. Check out the new museum exhibit, “The Way We Played,” if you haven’t seen it.

Denver Botanic Gardens

At Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms: Corn Maze through Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Patrick Dougherty’s “One Fell Swoop,” submersive sculpture; After Dark Corn Maze for brave folks; Pumpkin Festival Oct 11-13; Glow at the Gardens Oct. 21-25. At York Street, a special 40-year celebration of the Japanese Garden on Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to noon, $35, $30 member. For more information, go to botanicgardens.org.

Hudson Gardens

Celebrate the completion of the River Integration Project between Hudson Gardens, the Mary Carter Greenway and the South Platte River Corridor at 3 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Hudson Gardens, 6115 S. Santa Fe Drive. New parking lot, ADA-access via concrete trail from Santa Fe Drive. For more information, go to hudsongardens.org.

Library upgrade

Castlewood Library, 6139 S. Uinta St., Centennial closes on Sept. 30 for a six-month makeover, which will include a children’s maker space.

Magic!

Colorado Abstract

The Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, and Kirkland Museum of Fine Arts, 1201 Bannock St., Denver, have combined forces to offer an exhibit called Colorado Abstract+ 10 through Nov. 17, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the book by Michael Paglia and Mary Voelz Chandler. Kirkland hosts the original art in the book and Arvada has new work by those artists plus more. Kirkland charges admission and Arvada Center’s Gallery is free. Curtis Center for the Arts

The Naturally Colorado photography exhibit is open at the Curtis Center for the Arts, 2349 East Orchard Road, Greenwood Village. On Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be live raptors in the gallery. Admission free. 303-797-1779.

New Orleans jazz

Pianist to perform

Englewood Arts Presents is hosting pianist Susan Ellinger at 2 p.m. on Sept. 28 at Hampden Hall, Englewood Civic Center, 1000 Englewood Parkway. A new season begins for this great Saturday matinee series. 303-806-8196.
