Cherry Creek's Matt Batmunkh hits a backhand return in the No. 2 singles Class 5A championship match. Cherry Creek pulled away from Valor Christian on Oct. 16 to claim the team championship, which was the 44th state boys tennis crown in school history for the Bruins. Creek was tied with Valor heading into the Oct. 16 finals with 85 points compared to 79 for the Eagles.

Drew Schell of Valor Christian was the No. 2 singles state runner-up after he lost 6-2, 6-2 to Cherry Creek’s Matt Batmunkh in the Oct. 16 finals. Cherry Creek pulled away from Valor on the final day of the state meet to win with 85 points while the Eagles finished with 79.

Cherry Creek’s Matt Batmunkh won the No. 2 singles match against Valor Christian’s Drew Schell at the 5A boys tennis state tournament at Gates Tennis Center in Denver Oct. 16, winning 6-2, 6-2.

The Creek team pulled away from Valor at the tournament to claim the team championship, which was the 44th state boys tennis crown in school history for the Bruins.

Greenwood Village’s Creek, which was tied with Highlands Ranch’s Valor heading into the Oct. 16 finals, had 85 points compared to 79 for the Eagles.
