The Summer Olympic Games taking place now in Tokyo features quite a few familiar faces for friends and family across the Denver metro area. Here are a few of the skilled and dedicated athletes that Colorado Community Media  has had the honor of highlighting so far this year.

Golden grad and Arvada native Yul Moldauer is part of the US Gymnastics mens' team.

Jaxon Statzell, a 2004 Evergreen High School grad, is the mind behind the design of the Olympic skate park.

Idaho Springs native Haleigh Washington is on the court for US Volleyball.

Annie Kunz, Wheat Ridge High School alumni and two-sport athlete at Texas A&M University, is competing in Tokyo in the heptathlon.

Evergreen's Kendall Case, a Mullen grad, is part of the US four-woman crew rowing team.

And on the eight-woman rowing team, Mountain Vista grad Jessica Thoennes is also competing.

In addition, Stargate Charter School senior Colin Duffy qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games in men's combined climbing.

Mountain Range graduate Summer Rappaport (class of 2009) qualified for the Olympics in triathlon.

You can look back at our coverage of Lindsey Horan from Golden, who first made the women's soccer Olympic squad for the Rio games, and has been a team leader this time around.
