Nine seniors achieved perfect grade point averages, took part in activities

Posted

Elizabeth High School held its commencement ceremony on the cool, sunny morning of May 14, with hundreds of students and family members gathered at the EHS stadium to listen to the hopeful words of peers and educators, all encouraging the graduates on their life journeys.

The Elizabeth High School class of 2022 was honored to have nine valedictorians, those who exemplify the pinnacle of academic scholarship. This year, the distinguished group was made up of entirely of women. Each of the valedictorians had a perfect grade point average and was involved in school activities.

The Elbert County News held short interviews with several of the 2022 valedictorians and asked them all the same questions:

Kaylie Bott

How does it feel to be valedictorian?

It feels very accomplishing to be a valedictorian because I put every ounce of effort and extra time I had into my schooling. I am a very busy person and even with sports and multiple jobs I was able to finish everything I needed to for my schooling to ensure I kept the best grades I could. Knowing that my hard work paid off is very reassuring.

What is your fondest memory from your time at EHS?

My fondest memory from my time at EHS is probably my team. I was a part of the gymnastics team and every bit of time I spent with them I appreciate very much. The moment we won the 4A State Championships for the third time was probably my favorite part of my time at Elizabeth because I could feel the love from every person on my team and all the people we had behind us. It was a very accomplishing moment.

What are your post-graduation plans?

My post-graduation plans involve a lot of fun and trips over the summer before I head to Phoenix, Arizona to attend Grand Canyon University. I plan on getting my bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in marketing. I want to make the most of free time before I have to officially become an adult.

What advice do you have for the class of 2022?

My advice for the class of 2022 would be to never stop working hard. We all have our own talents and goals. No matter what they may be, the harder you work for them, the more likely you are to reach your goals. Don't forget what you are capable of.
