Exactly eight weeks after its originally scheduled graduation — which was cancelled due to restrictions related to COVID-19 — Faith Christian High School celebrated its 88 graduating students in the class of 2020 on July 16.
The graduation looked different than in years past, with the ceremony held at the high school's football field on Carr Street. Graduates sat with their families on the field during the ceremony, with each family seated in their own area six feet apart from other families.
Instead of being handed their diplomas with a handshake, graduates picked up their diplomas themselves before standing at the front of the stage to be recognized.
Graduating senior Ashley Finch commended her classmates for being resilient and adapting to “so much unwanted change” — and said it taught the students an important lesson about their faith.
“Let us trust that He will make things rights,” she said, “as we accept the things we cannot change.”
