The authority voted 6-0 with one abstention (Councilman Tommy Holton) to allow the Silver Moon Bar to keep its license as long as it meets five criteria.
City Attorney Andy Ausmus outlined the guidelines, most of which came from a letter of concerns from the state. Those included display of the liquor license in the business, the availability of sandwiches and so-called "finger food" during regular business hours and to make inspections and invoices available to city and state inspectors.
"My experience with these liquor license matters is to work with the licensee," Ausmus told the authority. "You have in your packet the letter from the state on June 28 stating that corrections needed to be made."
The fifth stipulation -- that the bar stay in compliance with state and local liquor regulations -- came from the Fort Lupton Police Department.
Owner Jason Cardenas was on hand but did not testify.
Volunteer award
In other business, council approved a resolution to nominate two groups -- the senior advisory committee for its efforts around the Field of Honor program at Pearson Park (it starts Nov. 10) and Hillside Cemetery for its work with the annual Memorial Day program -- for the Small Town American Civic Volunteer Award
It recognizes the nation’s top 100 public service and public safety volunteers from towns and counties of less than 25,000 in population, according to its website.
Assistant city clerk Emily Whittington also suggested nominating the Fort Lupton Urban Renewal Authority for its work on the streetscape plan. But she also cautioned council it could nominate just two people and/or civic groups.
