In an email to families of students Friday morning, Principal Nicole Caldwell said the school was notified of an anonymous threat via Safe2tell.org, a service of the state Attorney General's Office that lets people make reports to law enforcement.
The report came in after 5 p.m. May 9 and school officials decided to cancel classes on Friday.
The threat was deemed not credible on May 10, she wrote, and classes will be back on their normal schedule on May 13.
"Out of (an) abundance of caution, Northglenn Police will have an increased presence and extra patrols around our campus next week," she wrote. "The safety, security and well-being of children is the top priority of school leadership and Northglenn Police."
Northglenn Police representative Renae Lehr reiterated Caldwell's statement.
Caldwell said that school officials will release more information about increasing safety at the school in the coming days.
Global Village Academies are a network of four charter schools in Aurora, Colorado Springs, Parker and Fort Collins for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The schools focus on language learning immersion in addition to standard subjects. Students can study Mandarin Chinese, Russian or Spanish in addition to English.
