Hundreds of people flocking to downtown Golden to watch a local band and a cinematic classic? Inconceivable!

Englewood-based band Little Moses Jones performed Aug. 12 at Parfet Park before a screening of "The Princess Bride" for the summertime Movies & Music in the Park event.

Hundreds of locals brought their folding chairs, picnic blankets, MLTs — mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwiches — and other snacks to enjoy the night out.

Food trucks were on-hand with pizza, ice cream and crepes — the chocolate coating makes it go down easier — and the Golden High School dance team sold popcorn for a very noble cause.

Some wore light-up crowns for the occasion, but they were no match for the Wunsch family's brains. The four from Pleasant View wore their family Halloween costumes: Princess Buttercup, Fezzik, Vizzini and Inigo Montoya. Sadly, their friends Westley, Miracle Max and Valerie couldn't make it.

Also having fun storming the castle, proverbially speaking, was Little Moses Jones. The band played a mix of soul, funk and 90s R&B that demonstrated its great gift for rhyme.

The drummer, the eponymous Little Moses Jones, said the band has performed at Movies & Music in the Park before. He and his bandmates like the crowd and the vibe in Golden, so playing it has become a long and glorious tradition. He hoped Goldenites would support the band Sept. 3 when it headlines A Taste of Colorado in Denver.

September also marks the final chapter for Movies & Music in the Park 2022. Ghost Town Drifters will perform before "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" on Sept. 9.

Overall, since the invention of Movies & Music in the Park, there have been many rated the most spectacular, the most fun. This one left them all behind. The end.
