Westridge Meadows residents showed off their creative side March 25 during a driveway chalk festival organized by a neighbor.

Residents of the Highlands Ranch neighborhood were invited to spend time enjoying the sunny afternoon by creating art projects on their driveways. Drawings included a solar system, stained-glass-style drawings, abstract pieces and even a large wave modeled after the famous Japanese painting “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” 

The idea behind the neighborhood event was to bring some positivity to such a hectic time, said resident Tim Gelt.

While many families expressed that they're enjoying being together, it's also challenging for them to be unable to see their friends or go out much, with people being told to stay home to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

“Our philosophy is day by day, things are changing," Gelt said. "Just worry about the day you're in and not too far ahead. That's been a good way to deal with it."
