Letter to the editor: Reasons to support Wilson

I am a Colorado native; I grew up on the Front Range and except for living in Nevada in my teen years, I have called Colorado my home my whole life. As an architectural designer, wife and mother, I want to live in a community that values its resident's health and well-being through policy, design, and leadership.

I have seen many changes in Douglas County in the past 20 years, first as a visitor and then a resident, and I am more hopeful now for the future of our county than I have ever been. This hope is due to the amazing leaders we see stepping forward, leaders like Darien Wilson.

Darien has my support because she supports science, data and facts. In this world of “alternative facts” I want a leader who is willing to look at the data and believe the professionals who offer their expertise in medicine and science. I want someone who understands that the health and economic viability of Douglas County is dependent on listening to health experts, following simple guidelines, and setting an example for the community.

This is a trying time for everyone, no one has gone unscathed by this virus in one way or another and we need people who will guide us in the right direction without politicizing a pandemic like Darien's opponent Lora Thomas. These are just a few reasons why I support Darien Wilson and I hope you will too.
