Douglas County’s election process is sound and well-thought-of by people on both sides of the aisle.
Kory Nelson announced his candidacy for the Douglas County Clerk and Recorder position in mid-2021. Since then, Nelson has stuck to the now-predictable set of election fraud fear-mongering and unfounded triggers designed to make drama where none can be proven, all in an attempt to rile Douglas County’s conservative voter base.
Notably, Nelson’s campaign fails to speak to any other election issues such as voters’ rights, easy voting access and mail-in balloting.
Nelson’s failure to build on the clean reputation of the Douglas County election process is regrettable and shallow, and should be a disqualifier in the upcoming GOP primary.
All voters need to be sure we are knowledgeable about all the candidates for this important office. We simply don’t need to lower our high election management expectations for the sake of political fear-mongering.
