Douglas County has a long history of excellent leadership in the sheriff’s office. Our community safety standards and enforcement — much like the geographical distance from the heart of Denver — serves as a reminder of what sets us apart from all the other communities in the metro area. I consider this one of the crowning achievements for Douglas County over the decades.
As the current sheriff’s term comes to a close, it is time to select a candidate we trust to carry that torch of excellent leadership and community safety into the future. Through all the commotion and negative attention in this race, one thing stands clear: Darren Weekly is unequivocally the most prepared and qualified candidate for this job.
Darren Weekly has secured the endorsements of both the South Metro Fraternal Order of Police and the state Fraternal Order of Police, the current sheriffs of Douglas County, Jefferson County, El Paso County, and Larimer County, and Bill Owens — the most recent Republican governor of Colorado. These are not trivial endorsements; they were earned through hard work and a lifetime of service to the communities he serves.
The police brotherhoods who are responsible for keeping our community safe know that Darren Weekly is the leader who is most committed to our community and possesses the courage and integrity that the office of sheriff demands. The blue trusts Darren and we should, too.
As sheriff, Darren Weekly will be the first line of defense in the war against crime in Douglas County. He is prepared to face the most troubling issues of the day: including violence, fentanyl and crime.
I have joined the Fraternal Order of Police, the sheriffs, former Governor Bill Owens and countless others as a proud supporter of Darren Weekly for Douglas County sheriff. I hope that you will, too. Vote Darren Weekly for Douglas County sheriff to secure our future.
