Letter: Another side on end of Roe

This is in response to the June 30 article, “Residents protest end of Roe v. Wade at city’s courthouse.” I would like to share another side of the June 24 overturning of Roe v. Wade.

The Cleveland Clinic reports that an unborn baby’s heartbeat can usually be detected at six weeks and by the end of the third month, the fetus is fully formed. With modern medicine, doctors now put fetal viability at 22 weeks. At what point would you consider the life of a human baby to have value and a right to life, equal to its mother? At what point in a baby’s development would you consider it murder to take that child’s life?

Over 63 million preborn babies have been killed in America since the legalization of Roe v. Wade, never been given the opportunity to secure the “blessings of liberty to our Posterity” guaranteed in the Preamble of the United States Constitution. The truth is that all lives matter, even the most vulnerable — the unborn. I am thankful that in Colorado we have a Safe Haven Law and many pregnancy resource centers that give expectant mothers assistance for their choice to value the life of their unborn child. The overturning of Roe v. Wade should be a celebration of the God-given gift of life.
