I have recently had the opportunity to participate in the Friend’s Committee on National Legislation’s Washington Summer Institute to begin my new position in the organization’s Advocacy Corps program. I will be working on legislation around immigration reform. Through this experience, I have learned about how unreliable the status of DACA has been. Through the coronavirus pandemic, I have felt discomfort due to a lack of knowledge about my future. And I imagine this uncertainty is only a fraction of what the estimated 3 million immigrant youth in the United States have been facing for much longer than these last few months.

Therefore, I am calling on our Congress members: Representative Michael Bennet, Senator Cory Gardner, and Representative Ed Perlmutter to continue to support immigrant youth through urging the Senate to pass the Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6). This act will create a pathway to legal citizenship and has overwhelming support from 140 of the nation’s top businesses and 1200 faith leaders. I am asking members of Congress to prioritize creating stable futures for undocumented immigrant youth and to erase some uncertainty during this global pandemic.
