When wrestler Heros flipped his opponent Sol Azteca over and slammed him into the ground at Anythink Library’s York Street branch, the resounding thud was enough to make most of the patrons watching gasp.

There were no pads or bouncing floor to cushion his fall, just the carpet-covered concrete of a municipal library. It had to hurt, but the green-clad Soul Azteca bounced right to his feet, ready to demonstrate another Lucha Libre hold for the library’s staff and patrons.

Anythink Guide Michelle Hawkins invited the two wrestlers from Denver’s Lucha Libre Live to show off their moves and talk about their sport Feb. 26. It sounded like fun and just different enough to be interesting.

Speaking through a translator, the wrestlers said they trained at a school in Mexico to perfect their skills and their personas. Wrestler Heros said he chose his name to show that he is a hero, but noted that his name is pronounced with a silent “H” making it the same as the Greek god of Love.

His opponent Sol Azteca said he wanted his name to reflect the biggest thing he could imagine -- which is the Sun -- as well as the fact that he was born in Mexico.
