Works by two famous American artists, Winslow Homer and Frederic Remington, are presently exhibited at the Denver Art Museum through June 7. The two were contemporaries and famous in their day, but we don’t know if they ever met. The exhibit, called “Natural Forces,” contains about 60 paintings and “reveals common artistic themes and techniques,” according to the museum. The museum is closed as part of the COVID-19 precautions as of press time. Watch for the doors to reopen and plan a visit. See denverartmuseum.org.

Young scribes: The Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum’s Writing Contest winners will be announced by April 13 and all entrants will be notified that their manuscript is received. The awards ceremony date is pending at press time, among many other impatiently awaited events. Stay tuned ...

Take a hike

Area trails are popular with all ages right now, with welcoming weather as we write ... From my balcony at Vita in Littleton, I can see a nesting great horned owl with a pair of little ones — and a walk in any of our parks will no doubt reward one with similar views, plus new leaves and sprouting tulips at area gardens, including Hudson Gardens. Look for migrating birds as well as those who are settled in for the season.

Postponed show

The Governor’s Art Show, featuring a half-dozen well-recognized Colorado artists, is postponed to Sept. 26 to Nov. 1 at the Loveland Museum. It will include works by: Quang Ho; Carolyn Barlock; Amy Laughesen; Desmond O’Hagen; Sheri Farabaugh; and Lindsey Bittner Graham. Address: 503 N.
