By Hannah Pierrou
Published this month, Hannah Pierrou’s new children’s book “Farm to Film” takes readers on a fun journey through the alphabet.
“It’s about a little girl who goes to her pop and gram’s farm and picks up her pop’s old camera, and she basically just journeys through their farm,” Pierrou said.
Pierrou, who lives in Indian Hills, grew up doing photography and took inspiration from many of her own memories. The book features wholesome topics, watercolor art, geometric designs and fun narrative that engages young readers.
Farm to Film can be purchased on Amazon.com or at Pierrou’s website thetreehousestoryteller.com.
`Fireball Fox Saves the Forest’
Jackie Crivello
Fireball Fox has returned in a second children’s book written by Evergreen wildlife photographer Jackie Crivello.
Crivello’s book “Fireball Fox Saves the Forest” features her own photography from Colorado, most of it from the Evergreen and Conifer area.
“Fireball Fox Saves the Forest” is a tale of big machines coming into Fireball’s and friends’ home forest, tearing down trees and clearing their habitat. Fireball works to protect their homes but finds out details about the work that might be familiar to residents in Evergreen and Conifer.
“One of the reasons I wrote it is to get children talking about wildfires,” Crivello said.
Both of her books have won the “Mom’s Choice Award” and are selling internationally.
Crivello’s books can be found on her website at www.jcrivello.com as well as at Marshdale General Store; Critters Toy Co., Taspen’s Organics and Magpie Mercantile in Conifer; and Willow Creek restaurant, HearthFire Books, Evergreen Shipping Depot, Evergreen Clothing Co., TallGrass Salon and Spa, Evergreen Crafters and Village Gourmet in Evergreen.

`Thursday’s Children’
By Elisabeth Pendley
Elisabeth Pendley has written a memoir about her time as a third-grade teacher in a newly integrated school in the South, looking back at school conditions in the late 1960s.
“I had many (students) who read below a third-grade level, many who could not add or subtract, and four who were completely not literate,” she said of her teaching experience.
Pendley explains the racism was an issue at the school, and she draws similarities to today’s society.
The name for her book was drawn from the Mother Goose nursery rhyme, “Monday’s Child is Fair of Face,” which says “Thursday’s child has far to go.”
“Thursday’s Children” can be purchased on Amazon and at HearthFire Books in Evergreen.
