Outdoor sculptures come with audio tour

The Museum of Outdoor Arts’ “Sculpture on the Green II,” consisting of works by Colorado sculptor Robert Mangold, are placed around Fiddler’s Green Circle (in Greenwood Village east of Greenwood Plaza Boulevard north of Arapahoe Road) and will remain through April 2020. Works are from his PTTSAAES series, an acronym standing for a “Point Traveling Through Space At An Erratic Speed.” Audio tour: 303-353-1714, ext. 1091.

Water gardening

In “Get Wet 2019,” the Colorado Water Garden Society kicks off the season with a program about cannas grown in water features at 6 p.m. on April 18 in Mitchell Hall at Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St., Denver (co-sponsor), with a sale of some bare-root cannas and a program by the curator of the Denver Botanic Gardens’ aquatic collection, Tamara Kilbane. She will speak about growing, maintaining and overwintering these tropical plants. Program begins at 6:30. Admission: free. Information: Jim Arneill, Centennial, 303-843-9619.

Design and Build Competition

The Museum of Outdoor Arts in Englewood announces a new component in its annual Design and Build Competition. Open to any U.S.-based undergraduate or graduate student team enrolled in a creative field of study. Design a pop-up Makerspace through a blend of architecture and sculpture/installation or other creative solutions. Goal: Cultivate potential from emerging artists and design students and allow them the space to conceptualize inventive ideas within a set of boundaries. $9500 in cash prizes. Easter Egg Hunt

The Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum host the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. April 20 at Ketring Park, 6028 S. Gallup St., north of the museum.

Englewood Historic Preservation Society

Hank Gentsch, diorama maker, will be the subject of Lee Whiteley’s talk on April 29 for the Englewood Historic Preservation Society — at 2:30 p.m. at Englewood Public Library in the Civic Center, 1000 Englewood Parkway and 6:30 p.m. at Brews on Broadway, 3145 S. Broadway.

The Depot Art Gallery displays its “$100 or Less” exhibit through April 29 at 2069 W. Powers Ave., Littleton. Paintings, ceramics, photographs, jewelry, woodwork and prints are included — all priced reasonably. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. 303-795-0781.

‘Intuitive Painting’

The Heritage Fine Arts Guild of Arapahoe County presents a one-day workshop on May 4 with painter Victoria Kwasinski, “Intuitive Painting,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 1509 W. Littleton Blvd. Cost: $35 HFAG members: $50 nonmember. Registration required: heritage-guild.com.

Spirituals Project Choir

Book Award finalists read

Finalists for the Colorado Book Awards will read from their works at the BookBar, 4280 Tennyson St., Denver at various times prior to the awards ceremony on May 18 at the Arvada Center.
