The Parker Air Care Colorado vehicle-emissions inspection station will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, July 20, joining 12 other locations already open. The station is at 10199 Park Glen Way.

Various emissions stations were closed for safety reasons during the coronavirus pandemic.

Testing volume is expected to be extremely high on Monday, according to a news release from Air Care Colorado, as the agency works through a backlog of tests for March, April and May renewals.

To help reduce wait times, motorists with registration renewals that are due in July are being urged to wait until August to get inspections. July registrations will not be late as there is a 30-day grace period following the last day of each renewal month.

To avoid the busiest times, motorists should consider visiting midweek in mid- to late-afternoon. The busiest times are early mornings and Mondays.

Extensive safety procedures are in place to help ensure social distancing during the testing process and limit contact points to help reduce the threat of coronavirus transmittal between staff and customers. 

ACC staff monitor temperatures, wear masks and gloves at all times, practice social distancing as much as possible and periodically clean and disinfect surfaces. Motorists are also required to wear masks, practice social distancing and, in most cases are limited to only one person per vehicle. 

Air Care Colorado and state officials have also altered the testing process to limit person-to-person and person-to-vehicle surface contact and to control waiting times and locations.

“We are eager to open our Parker and Longmont stations to add convenience for motorists to the south and north of the Denver metro,” said ACC Program Manager Chuck Purnell. “Our team is working diligently to safely test vehicles as quickly as possible, while ensuring a safe and clean environment. We continue to work toward reopening all remaining stations as soon as we are safely able.
