Brighton Polic and rescue personnel and staff from Union Pacific Railroad spent the morning March 24 searching for a person that had been hit by a train downtown.

Brighton Police Chief Matt Domenico said the drivers of a train traveling through Brighton Friday morning called 911 to report that they thought they had hit a pedestrian along the track between Bridge Street and Bromley Lane at about 5 a.m.

“They were not sure just where it happened, but the driver of the train was convinced that they had hit someone,” Domenico said. “They were convinced, so we persevered. It was a long, exhausting search but we found them.”

Domenico said police did finally locate the victim about 11 a.m. That person, who Domenico declined to identify, was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition, Domenco said.

Police searched lots, garages and streets surrounding the train tracks. The train follows S. Main Street through the area. Police also enlisted a MedEvac helicopter during the search.
