Grace Bird is the new principal at Prairie View Middle School. It won't be a lot of extra miles for her to get to her new job. She's been the assistant principal at the middle school since 2019.

A press statement said in that role, she’s overseen school program implementation and she’s been a leader in setting the academic environment at the school.

“We’re thrilled to have Grace’s expertise at Prairie View Middle School as the new principal and champion for student achievement,” Superintendent Chris Fiedler said. “Over the years, Grace has earned a reputation as an expert in using achievement data to evaluate programs and performance in order to make remarkable improvements.”

Prior to coming to Prairie View Middle, Grace was an assistant principal of instruction at STRIVE Prep in Denver from 2018-2019. Before that, she was an assessment and data liaison and interim assistant principal for Adams City High School in the Adams 14 School District from 2015-2018.

She taught social studies at Kearney Middle School in Commerce City from 2012 to 2015 and at Montbello High School in Denver from 2010-2011.

Bird, who replaces Cristina Bissell, begins her new role July 1.
