The 25th annual Festival of Scarecrows was held in Olde Town Square on Oct. 9, ringing in the fall with a host of autumnal activities including costume parades, pumpkin and zucchini weighing contests, a cone maze and a scarecrow contest. The event is organized by the Historic Olde Town Arvada Association and doubles as a charitable event for Ralston House.
Hope, Community and Connection won the scarecrow contest with their entry `Bob,' a nod to the late painter Bob Ross. The Poston Girls had the largest zucchini at 10.6 pounds, while Eziah Fluharty won the biggest pumpkin contest with his 67-pound entry.
Approximately 3,000 people attended the festival, which also featured local vendors and representatives from community groups such as the Arvada Gardeners club.
