He was proud of his team that advanced to the game against top-seeded Colorado Academy. He was equally as proud of how well the Bluedevils played. But CA’s Nico Watters scored the goal off a corner kick in the 71st minute to win the game 1-0 and to end the Bluedevils’ season.
“We lacked concentration, and they were able to slip on past us,” the first-year coach of the Bluedevils said. “We could have had that team -- the way we battled all year, the way we battled ourselves with grades. After the Aurora Central game (a 4-2 home field win against the then-No. 7-rated Trojans in class 5A), the boys were flying high.”
