Boulder advanced to the state 5A soccer quarterfinals by shutting out Adams City 3-0 in Commerce City April 22.

Luke Kreidly scored two of the Panthers' goals. Arroll Taekla scored the other. Panthers' goalkeeper Evan Sims had three saves and recorded the shutout win. No stats were available for ACHS.

Both teams had chances to score in the first half. Kreidl started the scoring in the 32nd minute of play. Adams City's best chance in the first half came off the foot of senior Andy Galvan. He blasted a shot off right wing that just missed the Panthers' goal.

Galvan was back at it in the second half. He dribbled a shot wide of goal in the 45th minute. Diego Flores took a shot off a corner kick in the 53rd minute, but Sims was able to tap the ball over top of the goal.

Kreidl and Takela scored for ACHs in the last  15 minutes of the match.

"It was two different styles of soccer," said ACHS' first-year coach, Kevin Davis. "To their credit, Boulder was good at getting us out of our style of play.. We were the better team in controlling the flow of the game."

BHS improved to 8-2-1, while the Eagles suffered their first defeat in nine starts.
