Longtime Littleton painter rita derjue has an exhibit of colorful recent works at Bemis Library through Jan. 30 in the gallery. Some are familiar mountain landscapes, while others may be scenes from her active imagination, perhaps with a location in mind. These are for sale and would be a nice addition to any home or office. Open during library hours — it would be pleasant to read awhile, surrounded by happy color — there are comfortable chairs in this space — enjoy them! The library is at 6014 S. Datura St., Littleton.

Duesberry art

Works by the prominent Greenwood Village painter Joellyn T. Duesberry (1944-2016) are displayed at Lone Tree Arts Center through March 28. The self-taught landscape painter portrayed the West as she saw it for many years, and was well recognized nationally. In 1986, an NEA grant allowed Duesberry to study with famous California artist/teacher Richard Diebenkorn for a month. After that experience, she moved to Colorado and her work became more representational for a period. The exhibit is one invited by the Arts Commission. Free. Open during center hours. Lonetreeartscenter.org, 10075 Commons St., Lone Tree, 720-509-1000.

Littleton arts

Littleton has a new Arts and Culture Commission, created to “Raise the profile of arts and cultural programs and activities in Littleton” and enhance collaboration between the various entities that have operated pretty much independently. Ideally, organizations will come together to make a more vibrant arts community and highlight the city as an arts mecca. Nine members include Erin Acheson, Arapahoe Philharmonic; Mike Braaten, SSPRD, representing Hudson Gardens; Kathleen Eckel, Fine Arts Board; Michael Hommel Designs by Sundown, Littleton Business Chamber; JD McCrumb, Town Hall Arts Center; Kathleen McMurray, Museum Board; Greg Reinke, Historic Downtown Littleton Merchants; TBD from Arapahoe Community College; Monika Foley, Aspen Grove. Museum/Library Director Tim Nimz represents the city and Fabby Hillyard is hired as consultant. The City Council has discussed and studied the proposal since June, 2019 and approved it Nov. 19. The first-year budget is $31,500 for consultant and $2,500 for supplies and incidentals. Check Littletongov.org website for further information.
