Brighton High School didn't take much time in finding a new athletic director.

The search landed on assistant principal David Smith. He takes over for Lindsey Solano, who stepped aside from the AD's job but will remain as a member of the school's faculty.

"David has worked closely with the athletic department in the past and, like Lindsey, brings an extensive knowledge of coaching, scheduling and collaboration to this position," said BHS Principal Shelley Genereux in an email.  "Having David take over this role will allow a smooth transition between the end of our current season, which runs until the end of June, the summer workout and camps and the start of the fall season for all of our sports teams."
