With 99% of the vote counted in Jefferson County, Rep. Lisa Cutter (D - incumbent) as emerged as the presumptive winner over Republican challenger Donald Rosier. The uncertified vote totals show Cutter with a 52.8%  to 47.2% lead, with 57,180 votes cast.

HD 25 is an expansive, mountainous district covering most of unincorporated Jefferson County including Morrison, Fairmount, Evergreen, Idledale, Kittredge, Genesee, Aspen Park, Indian Hills, Coal Creek and parts of Littleton and Golden.

The district has been represented by Cutter since 2018. In the past two years, she has passed 20 pieces of legislation on a diverse range of issues including education, health care and Covid assistance. Cutter and her husband live in south Jeffco, and have three children that graduated from Dakota Ridge High School.

“If the early results hold and I’m re-elected, one of my big priorities will be land stewardship and fire mitigation amid the backdrop of climate change,” Cutter said. “It was way different running as an incumbent, and I’ve worked really hard to represent my community. I will do anything I can to support them with Covid relief — both economic and with health care.”

Republican challenger R. Donald Rosier, a civil engineer, served two terms as a Jefferson County Commissioner and made an unsuccessful run in the 2016 Republican US Senate primary. Rosier who’s served on numerous county and state boards and commissions, ran on a platform of experienced leadership and a promise to fight for local businesses, jobs and community health.

The next legislative session is slated to begin on the second Wednesday of January 2021. Legislators will be sworn in on that day.
