Ponderosa quarterback Jack Hanenburg hooked up with Kolton Miller for a 20-yard touchdown pass with 38 seconds remaining in the game to give the Mustangs a 21-14 win over Montrose Nov. 6 at Echo Park Automative Stadium.

The Mustangs were ranked fourth in the Class 4A poll and the Indians were 10thranked. Pondersoa was scheduled to play at Palmer Ridge on Nov. 12, but the Bears had to cancel because of COVID-19 quarantine. Longmont will play the Mustangs on Nov. 14 to conclude the regular season.

Hanenburg threw two TD passes and ran for another in the Mustangs’ victory over Montrose (2-3), which improved Ponderosa’s record to 5-0. Hanenburg completed 10-of-16 passes for 162 yards.

Ponderosa senior Cael Porter rushed for 63 yards, caught two passes and led the team with 21 total tackles, including 15 solo stops.

Cherry Creek 56, Arapahoe 7 – The unbeaten Bruins, top-ranked in the 5A football rankings, warmed up for a Centennial League championship game against Eaglecrest with an easy victory over Arapahoe on Nov. 6.

Creek and Eaglecrest, ranked fifth, will play at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at Legacy Stadium.

Eaglecrest is coming off a bye week and last played on Oct. 20 with a 28-13 win over Arapahoe.

Holy Family 38, Lutheran 14 – Two of the state’s top Class 3A teams met in a Nov. 6 game at Lutheran with No. 4 Holy Family notching a victory over the No. 2-ranked Lions.

The Tigers rolled up 402 yards of total offense and the defense had three sacks and two interceptions to throttle the Lions' offense.

Valor Christian 45, Ralston Valley 7 – The Eagles, second in the 5A rankings, were scheduled to play ThunderRidge, but the game was canceled because of the Grizzlies’ COVID-19 concerns, so eighth-ranked Ralston Valley was added for a Nov. 6 game.

Gavin Sawchuck rushed for 226 yards on 32 carries and scored two TDs to spark Valor’s conquest over Ralston Valley. Quarterback Sean McNair passed for two touchdowns and Don Tirmwall caught both scoring tosses.

Valor’s defense was solid as six players finished with five or more total tackles.

Legend 21, Pine Creek 20 – Legend, the seventh-ranked 5A team, remained unbeaten with a win over Pine Creek, which entered the Nov. 7 game third in the 4A rankings but missed a game-tying extra point.

Quarterback Kalen Shoemaker passed for 131 yards and three touchdowns for the Titans in the 5A/4A South League showdown. Jackson Bush caught two scoring passes and Carter Helfrich one. Luke Sandy led the Legend defense with 16 total tackles.

Legend can wrap up the Douglas County League title with a win on Nov. 12 over Douglas County.

Castle View 28, Fruita Monument 15 – Quarterback Johnny Colombi passed for 192 yards and three touchdowns to spark the win for the Sabercats. Blake Haggerty caught six passes during the game for 132 yards.

Mountain Vista 41, Prairie View 0 – Senior Adam Holton rushed for 255 yards on 20 carries and scored three times in the Golden Eagles’ victory on Nov 6.

Erie 15, Heritage 13 – The Eagles came close but were saddled with their fifth loss of the season as Erie won a close Northern 1 League contest.
