Alvarez, a senior, downed ThunderRidge's Summer Nash 6-2, 6-4. She faces Evy Sadel of Fort Collins at 2 p.m. June 11. Sadel doened Boulder's Lucie Paul 6-1, 7-5 this morning. At No. 3 doubles, Legacy's Katie Tsai and Ava Klein rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Legend's Ella Hudson and Taylor Eddy. Legacy's twosome faces Victoria Moldovan and Jisele Boker of Cherry Creek in the quarterfinals.
Smith and Vu, the Lightning's No. 4 doubles team, beat Emily Richardson and Abby Hawkins of Fruita Monument this afternoon.
Of those five, none advanced to the state semifinals. Fort Collins' Evy Sadeh beat Alvarez 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals at No. 1 singles. At No. 3 doubles, State 5A tennis .. at No. 3 doubles, Cherry Creek's Victoria Moldovan and Jisele Becker beat Legacy's Kate Tsai and Ava Klein 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
Denver East's Alexa MacDonald and Katie Commons battled past Legacy's Katy Vu and Emily Smith 6-4, 7-6 at No. 4 doubles
At No. 1 singles, Legacy's Eileen Tran lost to Ally Lowe of Ralston Valley 6-4, 6-2. Paige Beauchamp of Ralston Valley downed Legacy's Lily Kasic 6-1, 6-1 in the opening round at No. 2 singles. Also at No. 2 singles, Charlotte Baker of Heritage beat Northglenn's Makayla Clemons 6-0, 6-0
