The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment recommended COVID re-vaccinations for as many as 700 doses administered earlier this year.

One of the affected clinics was the Colorado Family Clinic, 4990 Kipling St. in Wheat Ridge. Authorities said up to 190 doses were handed out there between Feb. 3 and June 28. The clinic did not maintain the required temperature data or records of the number of vaccine doses it administered.

"The exact number is unknown due to the clinic's defunct status and missing patient data," CDPHE said in a statement. "CDPHE has terminated Colorado Family Clinic from participation in the CDC COVID-19 vaccination program, though Colorado Family Clinic notified CDPHE of their permanent closure June 28."

The other clinic was Servicios De La Raza, 3131 W. 14th Ave., Denver. Almost 600 patients received the vaccines there between Oct. 9 and April 24. Officials said in this instance, the vaccines were administered after their beyond-use date.

"As soon as CDPHE alerted Servicios De La Raza to issues with vaccine administration, the clinic made appropriate changes to their operations and have demonstrated compliance and correct operations," the statement said. "The clinic is working closely with CDPHE to alert those affected and schedule revaccination appointments.

Officials said there are no side effects or safety concerns connected to receiving an improperly stored vaccine.

"The only risk is that it may not offer protection from COVID-19 the way a valid dose does," a statement said. "Getting vaccinated again will help make sure that you are protected from COVID-19."
