 HISTORY:

Danny Graul started Black and Read in 1991 at 7821 Wadsworth Blvd. in Arvada, where the store is still located today. When he opened Black and Read, Graul’s employee base consisted of a few of his friends. Today, the store employs 12 people. Many of the employees there today were once Black and Read customers themselves.

He said:

“The employees are equally nerdy and geeky about everything here — books, records, games, etc. We take pride in that and try to be as helpful as we can with our customers, whether they’re just getting started in something or have been collecting for a long time. It’s fun for us because we’re so into this stuff.”

- Mikey Baca, music manager at Black and Read
