What must an effective Treasurer accomplish?

The Treasurer has three primary roles of collecting taxes, distributing to authorities and investing idle funds. An effective Treasurer must be able to perform those duties according to statute and in a fashion that meets the changing needs of our taxpayers.

In eight years, I have accomplished those roles by reducing our spending by millions, increasing service, eliminating check fees, offering e-statements, providing online/real-time solutions, adding new software and satellite office, expanding hours and more.

What traits are crucial for a Treasurer to possess?

The best candidate will have a degree in Finance, a deep understanding of technology, extensive experience, and a passion for serving. I am the only candidate that has all four.

I hold an MBA (Master's Degree) in Finance & Accounting; a Bachelor's in Technology, and I have 20 years of experience, eight of those years serving as your Treasurer.

And my undeniable passion to serve includes teaching Accounting at night at a local community college.

What makes you the best choice for this office?

Experience, education and proven results! I have successfully performed the duties of this office for the last eight years and I am the only candidate with a Finance degree.

I have practiced responsive, receptive and innovative leadership. My style as a “working” manager, not a “Figure Head,” means layers of government have been removed between you and your Treasurer. Lastly, I have kept every promise I made to serve with integrity and innovation.

What will your top priority be, if elected?

My third and final term will include eliminating credit card fees for online payments, opening a satellite office in Aurora, implementing a “Shadow and Internship” program for our local Accounting/Finance students and finalize our countywide Uniform Accounting Practices project.

I will continue to be an advocate to protect the senior exemption and our mobile home communities and I will work to partner with our neighboring agencies to further expand our free income tax preparation program.

What else should voters know about you?

My passion to serve as your Treasurer and teach Accounting is only a piece of the work I do for Adams County.

I work on boards that provide affordable housing and food bank services and also serve on an Aging board that provides resources to address the diverse needs of our senior citizens.

Lastly, I proudly sponsor the “ADCO Free Income Tax” Program that provides free tax preparation to thousands of seniors and low-income families.
