What must an effective Treasurer accomplish?

The single most necessary proficiency of the Treasurer's office is the effective management of the people's monies that are entrusted to the Treasurer as a fiduciary agent of the People, and ensuring the highest rate of return by constant attention to funds, prudent placement of those funds, by showing up and fully participating in the Retirement Board meetings, and by consistent, methodical researching and implementation of investment strategies identifying and harnessing market and economic conditions.

What traits are crucial for a Treasurer to possess?

A full and unwavering commitment to the people's well-being, above all else, and an equal commitment to sound, prudent placement of funds, cash management, and expansion of services. A willingness to advocate for the people's right to their property, and to provide education to the populace to protect their rights. A commitment to learning best practices in money management. A strong belief that the Treasurer has around 400,000 “bosses” - the people of Adams County.

What makes you the best choice for this office?

My successful background; my skill in strategic and tactical planning and implementation of finance/taxation programs.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics; Cum Laude; Regis University. Juris Doctor in International Business Law; University of Denver.

Experience: Taxes and Administration; Colorado Department of Revenue, ~$12.5m budget, ~100 employees.

Finance/Economics: Board Of Directors, Credit Union, and, Utilities Board.

Commitment: for nearly 40 years, I have been in service (public and private) to the People.

What will your top priority be, if elected?

I will have two priorities, based on my review of the current status of the office's funds management efficacy: Adams County retirement funds investment allocations and cash management. Both have fallen outside of the requirements of the respective programs and, based on national and regional economic indicators, a preparatory plan must be created and at the ready to be implemented within the next 18 to 24 months to meet the future needs of the programs.

What else should voters know about you?

I work, I learn, and I teach for the people; it's what I do and who I am. And I want to put my life-long efforts and successes to the good of Adams County People. Adams County is second to none in its potential to be the leader in good government by the people and for the people. I want to be a part of guiding, enhancing, and ensuring the People of Adams County's success.
