Commerce City Memorial Parade returns after 2-year break

The Commerce City Memorial Day Parade returned May 30 after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is one of the largest parades in Colorado to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for America.

The celebration began with the Presentation of Colors by Adams City High School Junior ROTC.  Pastor Gary Reed, of the Commerce City Veterans Commission, gave the invocation, and  Mayor Benjamin Huseman and grand marshalls Barry Reece and Shawn Moss helped introduce the parade. Fox 31's Greg Nieto narrated the event and introduced the floats and parade participants.

Commerce City Council members placed a wreath and performed the Rose Ceremony. Huseman and members of the city's Veterans Commission dedicated a plaque.

After the ceremony, the parade, featuring more than 55 entries, started its route down 64th Avenue and ended in the city's Veterans Memorial Park. The parade was followed by a performance by funk band Titonic in the park. Food trucks serving up various dishes and informational booths surrounded the concert area.
